Life, death, love, and sorrow,
into the abyss of neverending blue...

Why are people fascinated by the sea...?
This movie, along with things like Nikita, Leon, Fifth Element
is the breakthrough work of famous director Luc Besson.
The director himself had dreams of becoming an ocean biologist, but it seems that because of
a diving accident, he had to give it up. But as a person who knows the ocean,
he can overwhelm you with his dispiction of the extrodinary beauty of the sea.

The director's name actually is Luc Besson. The movies You is referring to is (La Femme) Nikita, Leon, and the Fifth Element. His most recent work is Arthur and the Invisibles, which was a CG animated film based off a children's book, Arthur and the Minimoys. It seems he is currently working on a sequel to this movie.
