[38] Cats and Dogs - 2006/06/29 (Fri)

I've got another feel-good movie... (^^;)
Like Babe, it's another in the unendurable line of animal-lovin'.

This time, after you finish watching it, you'll be addicted to
the subordinate of the Boss Cat, (the Exotic Shorthair).

'He's clumsy ~but so cute~'

It'll turn into an illness, and you'll want to keep him, too.

How many people in the cat camp? How about the dog camp?

I think both cats and dogs are OK.
Actually, I had a cat for a long time when I was very young, and
I couldn't help but like that cat's soft touch.
That squishy little meat ball was the best. (^_^) *

Ah, of course, I like dogs too, especially the obedient kind, (^_~)

but really, I'll like any kind of animal. (^_^)

[ * yeah, i'm sure that's pretty loose, but i can't make any other sense out of that sentence, so i'm pretty sure.]

yottsu

ok, four posts in one day, but only one of them is actually my own words, so i'm feeling okay about that...

nanto! as YOU would say. Wait! you mean, she's actually caught up? you mean, YOU wrote that PSElements post on thursday and meredeth has her translation up on... on thursday!? it's almost TOO MUCH TO TAKE!

... i know. it feels somehow... wrong. course, we've got the holiday coming up [i am referring of course to Gaku-chan's b-day, although i get the feeling that there's some other thing going on in america this weekend, too. i mean, the whole country wouldn't celebrate his b-day like i would, now would they? (^_^) ] so probably i'm gonna be off shopping w/ my
[ancient slang alert!] bro-ham, or rushing off to pick up my new spectacles or some such worthless thing, so probably i'll be back to my normal back-logged self by the time i'm done celebrating, but WHATEVER! for right now? i'm caught up. and i think that means i deserve a present. ... wonder what i want? a new japanese dictionary? some verb conjugation drills? some extra nap time? but i like ALL THREE!

-meredeth.
her brains? have melted.

[37] Pro Line? - 2006/06/29 (Thu)

Despite it's cute little package,
Photoshop is a pretty high hurdle
for little photo-virgin me...

A layer is what now? and
A selection is what now?
I'm just a little beginner...
Please teach me, skilled people. (^^;)

Although, learning something from the ground up is quite fun.

I'm waiting for my shutter chance, *
loitering about in the familiar streets,
getting a different point of view than I've had before.
On the other side of the alley, that usually I hardly notice,
I'm discovering new scenery,
and suddenly, flowers blooming on the roadside catch my eye.
My powers of observation and awareness have had to grow in order to really see things,
and it's almost like I've discovered a whole new me.

Well, that sounds kind of self-imporant, but
honestly, my photography is still pretty shabby. (^^;)
Daily diligence...

P.S. Really my brain have just melted... Elements...

[ * a cool japanese import word that i wanted to leave in because it's just so cool. what it means is, "a good time to take a picture." also, about the title, apparently Adobe likes to make my life hard. the original title of the post is "puronami?" which i'm thinking is "Pro-something." the something i believe actually means ordinary, but comes from the verb "nabu" meaning "to line up," hence my version of the title. it's the tag-line on the japanese Photoshop Elements 4.0 box. darned adobe. probably payback for my P2P activities... oh wait! don't tell adobe! (^^;) ]

[36] Ettiquette - 2006/06/28 (Wed)

Once in a while, when someone tries to correct a mistake,
the log number changes...
It's really a shame, huh. (^^;)

[35] Early Summer - 2006/06/28 (Wed)

It's been really hot lately, hasn't it?
Move just a little, and you're drenched in sweat...

The body produces sweat, the metabolism climbs, and
so it is a good thing for the body, but
the smell is something else altogether...

Of course, you can use perfume, but
usually when you use perfume, you become
even more sensitive to the smell,
that
of other people as well as your own.

Therefore, I have a recommendation for this season.

There are, of course, all kinds of deodorants and anti-stink medications out there...

Etiquette is an important matter for men, too, and so,
in olden days, if they had a date that day, they would fan themselves all day.

But, they didn't have deodorant, so even if they sweat a little, they'd fail, right?
No matter how many times they fanned themselves, it was no good, and they carried around a bad smell.
So even inefficiant products were prized.

So then, how many years before the spray was discovered, *
and suddenly it seemed like, one blast in the morning and you're good to go!
This is what was written, so, well,
people gave it try, weary that they were being deceived.

Then, Wait! This super effective!
One blast in the morning, and even in the evening,
there's still
not any odor. It was a revolution.
Sure enough as soon as it went on sale, it was a big hit.

Please without fail, use etiquette.
NO body odor. Then, even if you do sweat,
when you're
inside a packed train, and
no matter
how close you get to your girlfriend or boyfriend,
you won't be anxious.

Also, people who don't practice etiquette, even if you're not aware of the smell of sweat,
you
should try it once. People might start visiting you more often. (^_^)

P.S. Really, packed trains in summer are a good place to practice it...
just start handing out spray to everybody on the train. (^_^)

[ * this line's not exactly right, but i'm pretty sure on the basic meaning. the lovely chaps over at sci.lang.japan are helping me out w/ the nuances. i think i'm going to have to buy those people a fruit basket or some cookies or something... (^_^) ]

[33] One Way or Another - 2006/06/27 (Tue)

It's been one month! (^_^)

One month so short it was long, so long it was short.

I'm such a fortunate person,

wrapped up in so much gentleness and affection.

'Always, thank you.'

Please enjoy yourself.

[32] Not just a pig (^^) - 2006/06/26 (Mon)

This little pig, just what is it?
Maybe it looks like some kind of bowl,
but
it is in fact an ashtray.

The bright color and design are great
on this pig ashtray,
but wait! You can also put out your flame in the nose part.
Put your cigarette in the hole in the nose and grind it in. (^_^)

I take my hat off to this good sense.
It's become my absolute favorite thing.
Even though I don't smoke any more,
I have it in my house.

Once in a while smokers come over to my house, and I pull out this ashtray, but
no one recognizes the little pig for what it is, and they don't put out their cigarettes in the nose.

'You put it out like this!'

I say, putting it out,
and everyone realizes what it is, and starts howling with laughter.
It gives everyone a nice feeling, like "Cute! A piglet!"

A piece of advice for people trying to give up smoking...,

Don't use any crutches!
Gum, candy, nicorette, fake cigarettes,
there are all kinds of things, but using cigarette substitues make it difficult...
Unsatisfying things just make enduring harder,
so it becomes unnecessarily tough.
Maybe it's better if you use a crutch for
about a week, and then go completely off.
That goes for me, too. Just after I stopped, I chewed through
an entire pack of gum (wrappers and all).
But now, I don't use any substitutes.
Although, it could be good for some jaw excercise...

I still occassionally want a smoke. (^^;)
Even the little pig wants me to. (^^)

[31] The other day - 2006/06/25 (Sun)

... I headed to the office for a meeting, and
What! That's not a new Upty-kun, is it!?
Too bad it just got left here. (^_^)

And so, here's an example for the photocontest I mentioned
before. We're still working out a few implementation
details, so please wait just a little longer.

Truely, many thanks to the staff who always manage to put
up with me and what you could call my plans.

There's just one word from the staff in case you come back again,

'Even though You-san is the sponser, maybe he should start
frantically taking photos so he won't have to be ashamed in front of everyone?

That way, even if his early photos aren't that good...'

...mm?
It still won't help?

P.S. I bought Photoshop Elements today. (^^;)

[30] At the Last Minute - 2006/06/24 (Sat)

Safe!

Everyone have a nice day off!

P.S. YOSH's the best!! Hurrah for Shamo!!! *
I was glad to be able to meet my friends after so long.

[ * Shamo seems to be the name of a band that played at the club that night. also, the picture wouldn't bloody load, coz blogger's having some kind of mental issues, so i'll have to put it up later... basically it's the little green tag from Club Citta.]

[29] dear opportunity - 2006/06/23 (Fri)

Once again, a post on love...

When MTV played the song for this movie,
well, it was a good tune, but there was something
strangely interesting about it grew on me, and so I went
to see it, and
it turned out to be quite a good movie.

It was a pretty dreamy story coming from a man, but
when I was young and still had pure heart,

'I want to have this kind of romantic rendezvous!'

'I want this kind of sweet love!'

completely made me daydream. (^^)

So, pure-hearted people! You should go and see this movie.
You'll become a complete slave to love.

P.S. Too bad about Japan, huh... In another four years!

[28] Melody of Memories - 2006/06/22 (Thu)

So, when I was a teenager, still young...,

At that time, I didn't have even a radio-cassette player, so
if I wanted to listen to music, I didn't have any choice but to
watch TV variety programs, or turn on the radio.
If you want to be affected by your music,
such an environment isn't something to be praised.

But even in that situation, I managed to
check
MTV every week.
(At that time, they were broadcasting on TV.)

Well, when I wanted to hear a certain music,
I barged in at the home of my friend who was enthusiastic about western stuff. (^^)

In his room, he had splendid audio system,
handed down to him from his father.

That was still the analog era, so
we had mainly records and cassette tapes.
Of course, analogue degrades,
even if the listener restricts the number of playback hours.

That room was enveloped in sounds so good they hurt my ears,
it was like a musical performance right before my eyes.
Normally, I only heard sounds from TV speakers,
and so for me, it was a wonderful and very precious time.

That was how I spent the time when I went to play at his house.

Actually, there was one embarrassing day,
it was the day I was jilted by a girl I was going out with.

I was depressed at the sudden parting, and so I put on some music I liked, but
he could probably guess something was wrong from my depressed air.

"What happened?"

he said.
Reluctantly,

'Well... I got dumped...'

I answered weakly,
and after a little silence,

"You still like her?"

he asked, putting in a tape.

Even though I didn't understand the lyrics at all, the pain was transmitted
in that streaming melody, and the tears started flowing.

"Until you can forget, it's ok to like her." *

One sentence from him was the last drop.

Yeah~ A super effeminate thing from a man. (^^;)

That was a reeeally lengthy introduction, but the melody that day
was the "The Flame" by Cheap Trick, the artist in the photo.
Well, it's a famous piece of music, and I think a lot of people know of it, but
you should listen to it one time. And imagine, "Hearing this song makes me cry!"
and laugh. (^^)

Coincidentally, I'm still really close friends with that guy who was crazy for all things western.

[ * i think. casual speech always breaks my mind. *must practice! must practice!* also, The Flame makes him cry. heheh. poor YOU-kun. come over here, i'll give you hug...]

[27] Cool junk = Treasure - 2006/06/21 (Wed)

Do you buy stuff for yourself?

Such as,

things you're crazy for, mm?

Maybe,

well,
please try and imagine,
lining up at a register, carrying some cute little thing,
me...

No matter how you look at it,
I'm just not your normal strange person!! (^^)

It's usually just little girly chic accessories
that I pick up, so I'm thought to have
that kind of taste, but they're all thank you gifts
from everyone. *

After this,
I'll do some posts on my favorite accessories m(._.)m

But that daikon...,
frightening yet familiar...

[ * well, at first, this paragraph gave me Issues, hence the lack of posting on my part, but as of this moment, i'm moderately confident in the overall gist of my translations. ... on a more personal note, MAN! how many freaking times have i been nearly insulted over course of the past week! i was almost, but not quite, called a poser on a emu/rom forum, my sister called me a nut bag the other day, mostly joking, and i'm pretty sure a chap i've been doing some translations for wanted to call me a lazy bum but was too polite to do so. the thing is? i'm in a much better mood lately than i usually am. i never would have guessed it, but it turns out that accurate pin-pointing of my personality flaws makes me happy. (^^)]

24 June 2006

[26] I'm not a daikon maniac (^^) - 2006/06/20 (Tue)

Of course, a rush of diet posts... GRIN.
I'll continue my post from yesterday about water.

About how much water does everyone drink each day?

Some people don't take in much water,
some people only like beverages with a certain taste,
some people say, It's SAKE for me!,
there are various kinds of people.

For people who basically don't drink too much water,
I will report a factual item here.

A friend I got along well with, (we were?) back pain friends, but *
when I met him he had a bad complexion.
Well, he actually had a severe hernia,
and was having a reaction to the painkiller.

But, occasionally, I would have a meal together with him,
and in studying him, I found that he didn't drink one drop of liquid with his meals.
I was worried,

and when I asked him,

'How much water do you drink in a day?'

He said generally a glass or two.
Whatever the circumstances, it's not very much at all,

and I tried to offer some advice,

'A person's supposed to drink 1.5 litres every day.'

And so...,
about a month passed, and when I meet him again after a while,
wouldn't you know it, his complexion had cleared up!

"Yeah~ I've been in pretty good shape lately~"
"I followed your advice exactly~"

There was some other good news, it seemed he had lost some weight...
At that instant, I realized water's importance.

And that's the reason,
the next day, I, too, started drinking 1.5 litres of water every day without fail.

[ * ok, i really don't have even the slightest idea. i was hoping youtsuu nakama, which literally means "back pain companion" was some kind of idiom, but i haven't been able to find any evidence of such thing. i'll keep looking of course, but until then...]

[25] I'm not a secret agent! (^^) - 2006/06/19 (Mon)

Many years ago, I said
to a model friend,

'A lot of people around us drink these days.'

and a trainer at the gym I attended
recommended to me,

'Minerals from perspiring are indispensable.'

and also, while trying to check out
of a place in central France,

everything seemed to be calling out,

'Slim Water' ... *

With everything else, I was always anxious, but
in those days, searching for a shop that was selling it was terrible, and
and it was high-priced for water,
so I didn't really drink it.

However, these days, it's pretty cheap on the net,
and finding places that sell it, well,

'This is a convenient era, isn't it.'

I immediately tried to start drinking it.

This water, even for hard water, the mineral content is so high,
that the first sip made me say,

'Ugh, heavy,'

and it was difficult to drink, but
now, this hardness is a good feeling,
and soft water has become unsatisfactory to my mouth.

Ah, of course that water has a delicious taste! (^^)

Because about 70% of a human is water,
I want to be sure and drink some water every day.

And if you find water that worries you, try and test it on a living person.

P.S. In spite of all that, a clear day would be nice.
Just a little break, huh? (^^;)

[ * slim water: a japanese diet drink. seems to be basically water + minerals.]

[24] Rain Again... - 2006/06/18 (Sun)

There really has been a lot of rain... I went through so much trouble to buy that camera,
but I haven't been able to go photographing very much. (T_T)

Although, thanks to the rain, nature gets watered...
Like the water in my heart... (^^) *

At first, this was my plan,

get the camera and go out = look for subjects =
nothing much to be found = walk around =
feet get tired = arms get tired from heavy camera
= good excercise = effective excercise plan = healthy

I should have been like that, (^^) but
I'm still laying around in this house...

This week especially I want to go out and take some more photos. (I hope!)

P.S. Today was a victory for Japan...

[ * for some ungodly reason, japanese turns out to have a word that means both "to be wet" and "to favour or charm." in case you're wondering, it's "uruou." yay linguistic oddness.]

22 June 2006

[23] Once Again - 2006/06/17 (Sat)

We went for motsunabe. Red peppers are just amazing, aren't they?
Even though we tried it with light spice after the lessons of last time,
everyone was still shiishii-haahaa (^_^) *

Well~ We were sweating so much during the meal, so it was quite healthful. (^_^)

Whenever I go to eat spicy things, I have to deal with this transformation, but
as fond of them as I am now, actually, I didn't used to like spicy things.

Usually,
all the friends around me were fond of it,
and every time we went together to eat spicy things
I, too, repeated shiishii-haahaa, but after a while
I
became invincible.

Everything through diligence, huh? Mm? You say you don't want to like spicy food? (^^;)

Usually, everyone, spicy foods are good, but
there is one caution...,

After overeating, the next day,

please be careful of

'FIIIRE!!!'

Excuse me (^_^)

[ * japanese sound effects for that sort of mouth dance one does when one eats things that are MASSIVELY spicy.]

[22] Afternoon - 2006/06/16 (Fri)

I don't have much time..., so it's going to be a short.

I have a recommendation for those of you who
think you're so stressed that you can't be cured.

The little pig in this movie is really cute, and
by the end of the movie, you'll want to keep the pig.
Even I myself wanted to keep it... (^^;)

You can't help liking the animals, it's a heart-warming film.
You really should go and take a look.

Well then, please enjoy your Friday evening. (^^)
Sainara, sainara, sainara~ (That's a little old, huh?)

21 June 2006

[21] Still doing nothing - 2006/06/15 (Thu)

Another mistake... (T_T)
And how many times do I double-check before I upload.

I'll regroup my spirit, and
today I'll talk about the bath...

How long does everyone spend in the bath?
Some people take so long their skin gets all swollen,
some people take such a short time, it's like a dry bath.*
Well, of course there are all sorts of people, but
as often as possible, I recommend
bath time be
at least 20 minutes.

First,
fill the tub with bath water until it is somewhere above your belly button and below your heart.
The water should be just warm. This is the so-called sitz bath.

Without fail,
before you get in, drink at least one glass of water.
If you bring in a PET bottle, that would do nicely.
After, there's nothing but waiting for the time to pass.
In my case, this is generally reading time.

After a little while, you'll start to perspire.
You won't be able to believe you could sweat so much in only 20 minutes.
You feel like, Ah~ It's a whole new body~

Generally, I spend between 20 minutes and an hour, but
if you're going to stretch it out, please get up and take a break so you don't overdo it.
People who've taken short baths until now won't stay in for a long time at first,
but little by little, please spend more and more time in the bath.

Really, the amount of sweat is amazing.
People who don't usually excercise enough should give it a try.
You'll be flexible just out of the bath, and flawless.
Your skin will be nice too~

By the way, my friend has had a sitz bath for more than an hour every day
from the beginning, and doesn't seem to get fat.

Your fatigue will disappear, and you'll lose weight, so you'll kill two birds with one stone.
Give it a try!

That's the YOU Diet Plan. (^^)

[ * yeah, that's pretty close, but it's not as literal as it could be. also, thoughts of YOU in the bathtub = happiness. O_O ]

[20] This Week's CD - 2006/06/14

I'm going to quietly recommend a CD, so i'll try and introduce it...
Once in a while, please try and listen to some different music. (^^)

Whenever I buy a CD, I give it a trial listen, and then buy it, but
generally I decide on the beginning of the first or second tune.
When I buy like that, frequently I get discouraged.
"It's only the beginning of the songs that are good!"

This has probably happened to a lot of people.

And of course, the conduct of listeners who say those things is pretty obvious,
so recently artists introduce just a single tune in the first half
of the album, especially in the 1st~2nd songs.

When I gave this CD a trial listen,

'The second song's pretty good~'

It was splendid, this scheme to get me to buy it (^^)
(I didn't know until afterwards, but this seems to be a big hit with the public.)

An easy and husky voice, with acoustic sound,
quite easy on the ear, is in heavy rotation these days.

"Yo're Beautiful~ Yo're Beautiful~"... I'd like to say...**

[ * literally the title is, "This Week's Thin, Flat Object. i'm assuming that he is referring to the CD. ** these adorable little mistakes are YOU-kun's very own. it's the only english he's typed so far, and it's got its apostrophes in the wrong place. so, enjoy.]

20 June 2006

isogashii

ok, well, i know it's been a couple of days, so i thought i'd post something so no one thinks i've completely fallen off the face of the planet. turns out i got an actual paying translation job, so of course paying the bills has to come before YOU-kun fandom. T_T i know. it's only temporary, and a short one at that, so don't worry, it shouldn't be more than a day or two more and i'll be back on schedule. recent YOU-kun posts include a(n uber) short recommendation of the movie Babe and a (rather lengthy) post on the proper procedure for taking the bath of your life. apparently, YOU takes hour-long baths. that's his reading time. ... YOU-kun in the tub ... heheheh.

[19] Of Course - 2006/06/13 (Tue)

A lot of people have said my camera is nice.

Even when I purchased it, the salesperson said,
"Lately, a lot of women come in to by single-lens reflex cameras."

The world tried to rush in and then understand, but
it can be fairly difficult to do well. *

At more than 100,000 yen for camera and lenses,
the new product sold out, and there was a wait of more than a month,
with huge strings of numbers at the cash register,
and a huge number of photography blogs,

men and women of all ages, people with all sorts of hobbies buying it,
impressions changed.

Although, because it was the fashionable thing,
research was easy to take care of...

Ah- I should take the opportunity to plan a photo contest.
Limited to WEB members.

It'll be something fun. (^^)
I'll talk more about it tomorrow.

[ * i'm kinda iffy on that sentence. also the part about lots of women coming to buy the camera is a little shakey. it's the only sense i can make out of that thing though...]

[18] CLICK! - 2006/06/12 (Mon)

This is the rumored camera. Awesome, isn't it?

Today, there was a business meeting on the matter of the usual plans,
and so I promptly got my camera.

"Waah, that's an amazing camera~"

"You'll go far with that thing."

"And right away, in spite of being tired..."

they said. Well, it was full of (?)* fame, but

with kasha- kasha-kasha- kasha-
they let me practice without saying yes or no.

"Ah- again! Stop it!!"

'Please forgive my photography!'

And just as the staff was beginning to get angry,

"Hey~, you take nice photos~"

'Of course, a nice camera makes a difference.'

It seemed they completely liked it.

Well, photography is fun, both for the photographer and the photographee.

I've still some way to go before I'm at the level where I can show my stuff to others,
but I'll practice hard everyday.

So, what should I photograph?

[ * question mark his, not mine. ditto for unusual phrasing. and no, i don't really know what's up w/ the immediately proceeding line. probably something like, "in spite of being tire, i'm excited about your camera"or some such thing. also, personal note, i don't know why i like this entry so much, but i just find ungodly cute, don't you? probably the idea of YOU roving about like a reporter, snapping shots and then running away. he's a photography ninja! (^^) ]

[17] "Da Vinci Code" - 2006/06/11 (Sun)

The other day, I went to see the title movie.

It's been a long time since I went to the movie theatre,
but
of course, the theatre was good.
The music and image are way better than at home!

I've always wanted it, to go to the movie theatre... It's been a dream. (^^)

Well, regrettably as I've gone on,
I've withdrawn more and more from society.

Setting that aside, as for this movie,
I'm the only person who hasn't read the book, but
I think it's quite a problematic work.

I can't speak knowingly about the contents, but
even in an era without religious war,
it's not that strange.

Personally, I liked very much the system of solving a riddle with your hands,
well~, it gives you a big thrill.

As the only person trying to read the book, from the movie, the subject seems thick.*
When I read it, I'll write my impressions.

So, try hard again this week.

[ * as in heavy, dense, serious, etc.]

[16] ukkii! - 2006/06/10 (Sat)

Today a I went to play
at a camera man's house.

Well, actually,
as I slowly graduated from carrying the camera,
and I wondered if I was ever going to actually use the camera...

Well, so I say, but
the camera doesn't understand left or right,
so I ended up receiving some prompt lessons.
And so, now, I've had to borrow his PC to write on.

How many months has it been since I wanted to upload a photograph, huh?
I'll have to be untiringly persistent...

because I become as if leaving w/ the purpose of photography,
I can stop staying at home (^^;)

After this, on the street, with a huge camera hanging from my neck,
if you catch sight of some tall neauvou jerk,*
probably, you shouldn't say anything about people like me.
Because I'll teach you to become a model. (^_^)**

So, So, it was a good holiday...

P. S. Thank for all the words of encouragement.
I'm a little embarrassed, but I was moved to
unmanly weeping. I'll try my best on this diary.

[ * i really have no ideas on this line. ** man, i don't get this one either. also, i don't know what the title is on about. ... i'm so pathetic today...]

[15] aaaCHOOO!!! - 2006/06/09 (Fri)

I need treatment for this -this -ah -ah- ah!!
Tonight, I am a big sneeze devil.

Actually,
Today I snapped...

If you ask why,
There was a question about yesterday's BBS problem.

'Where'd my login go?'

"Sorry..."

'What's being done?'

"Oh yeah, that..."

'It just disappeared?'

"...I tried it, but, sorry..."

'What!! It disappeared!!!'

"...Sorry, I'll pay attention next time..."

'Look, if sorry took care of everything, there wouldn't be any police!'

'How many people would get hurt you think! Graaaa!'

Usually gentle me was out there in outer space.
And there was smoke coming out from all over my body. (-_-#)

Please accept my deep apologies.

'Sorry...' (T_T)

Truly...,
even if you're sick of this, please go and make some posts.

And one by one make some memories. Well,

"Have a lovely evening..."

[ note: ah, poor YOU-kun, getting sick and being grouchy. nice to know he's not completely infallible though, i suppose. probably his whole BBS exploded w/ "we <3>

[14] Correction... - 2006/06/09 (Fri)

So then... "Hikomaro" ...
It was just a little mistake there. (^_^)
My jokes about watching enough TV were failures...

Gourmet Reporter?... Eh, well... (looks off into the distance)

The preceding will be left there.

Just a quick report.

[note: yeah, coz it's going to be even more confusing to you than it was to me, and i really wasn't aware that such a thing was even possible. anyhow, the gist of it is, there was a typo in the last post. where i put, "whisper of the wind," --which, by the by, i'm sure is not very literal at all-- he put "hikomaru" instead of "hikomaro." no, i don't know what the difference is, but yes, i'll keep searching. also, no, i have no idea what the heck watching TV has to do w/ any of it...]

[13] Mellow - 2006/06/08 (Thu)

Today, I had a gyoza party at my house.
I chanced upon some delicious gyoza on the net, so...

Baking them till they're quite crispy is hard though, isn't it.
With the well-done light brown on the one side, as the skin browns,
The broth flows out with a JUWA* the instant you put it in your mouth ...

"This is the world cup of food!" <- the whisper of the wind.

That's what I said, but I thought it was ideal. (^_^)
Well, the method of baking changes delicately according to the gyoza, I thought, but
here is how to bake them deliciously,

"High flame until the end."

"Add boiling water."

"Be sure to put the lid on."

"If it gets too dry, immediately lift it up, and wait until it's just barely burned."

This kind of feeling...

Things like that, were only before success. (^^;)

Crispy gyoza, are best
presented with beer in the season after this.

Well, I don't have to meet anyone tomorrow, so, be~lch!

...,

"Excuse me" _(._.)_

[ * some kind of sound effect, i'm hoping. also, sorry for that little bit of non-sensical-ness in the middle there, this is the start of a series of posts which at first made little and/or no sense to me. (-_-) ]

[12] Soft and Flabby - 2006/06/07 (Wed)

Are you? (^_^)

I'm thinking of a certain person, but
really...

When they take their clothes off, it's amazing!!*

Pyo~n (^^;)

Always people around me say,

"You eat so much and you're not fat?"

"You're really thin for eating so much."

"Why aren't you fat?"

When people say things like that, I clearly say,
"Any human who eats gets fat."

Even if you like what you eat a lot,
even at the best of times, people pull out
and when you lose heart, you end up saying

in the end...

"I'm such a flabby adult."

Well, for that reason,
I don't follow any daily diet, but
in this place, I'll give a piece of advice.

"Use scales that measure body fat percentage."
"Aim to decrease you body fat percentage rather than your body weight."
"Do the measurements once a day without fail."

That's the YOU diet plan. (^_^)

[ * due to japanese's lack of pronoun usage, this could be about him or whoever he's thinking about, or even someone else entirely. darn japanese. (^^) ]

[11] Kyaa! - 2006/06/06 (Tue)

Good evening, I am Damien. (^_^)

What! Today is 2006/6/6... Isn't 666 the mark of the beast!!!?
Even though I'm not a follower of the teachings of Christ, that number is somehow sinister...
Did everyone have something good or something bad today?

Oh yeah! Also, the "Omens" remake will be released
in theaters today.

I saw the original "Omens" when I was very young, and it really scared me.
Demons = scary, demons = cruel, demons = don't want to be concerned if possible,
so it was really quite traumatic.

But,

Now that I'm an adult, when I saw the DVD boxed set,
I thought quite a bit about Damien's feeling of isolation.
My thoughts changed, and I asked,
rather a horror film, is it maybe a human drama?

Isolation as a reason for strength..., it's quite a painful
thing to have to think about, huh?

Of course, I wouldn't recommend it for people
with frail hearts, or those who dislike harsh scenes,
which are the foundation of horror films...

Every once in a while, I try thinking like a demon.
I'm just a little demon though. (^_^)

Hey, did you know that when you add up all of the Japanese coins, you get 666?

[note: creepy! also, sorry about the single posts the last couple of days, we're getting to a section of posts that i'm really unsure of, so i've been kind of procrastinating. time to get back to work!]

[10] "ROBOT" Ver 1.0 - 2006/06/05 (Mon)

Stiff movement,
Occasional freeze-ups,
Get to sleep quickly,
Start up slowly,
Not enough memory,
A small hard drive,
Well, it could be all sorts of things, but

"It's because, I'm a robot." <- The mystery on the breeze.

... I can be stopped by a virus. (O.O)

Now then, work, work. (^^;)

[9] Sweet Things - 2006/06/04 (Sun)

As a matter of fact, I am a person fond of sweets...

Well, really super sweet things are
no good, but

wagashi, cake, ice cream,
by all means, those I'll
take.

Of course, not just sweet foods,
I also like
"Sweet Loving." (^_^)

By nature, guys have little fondness for sweet things,
they're usually fond of alcohol, and are really heavy drinkers,
and their surroundings tries to change their usual existance (transformation?)

but
whichever way it is, in my case,
I simply eat what i like. (^_^)

To say the least,
after a delicious meal, there's nothing better than dessert! (so tempting)

And also,

a lot of the things that i like to eat,
have become things i like to cook.
That way I always make things that I like to eat...

So, if I get the chance, maybe I'll put up some recipies, huh?

[note: it's a little rough, ne? well, i'm always worried about straying too far from the original whilest keeping it sensical. hope this one's not too bad on the non-sensical side. (^^) ]

[8] Wow! One week! - 2006/06/03 (Sat)

Somehow one week has peacefully passed.

Of course every day, I was about to lose it. (^_^)
When I go to bed, when I wake up,

nothing but...

"What about today's material???"

But, trying to read the diary
so far over and over again,

I realize that I haven't got much literary
talent. (T_T)

And yet,
things like that are always punchlines... (^^;)

So, um,

Not much time left,
Not much funny left,
Too many good-for-nothings,
For example nothing to write on this line.

As much as I can, I'll try and update every day,
so please visit as often as you can.

I'll be diligent and get better every day.

In conclusion
as for the deficiencies in the system screen, and mail registeration, etc.,
let me borrow this space to give my apologies.

Please turn your gentle eye to this home page again.

Hm? ...Oh! ...Today is Saturday Night, sooo
I'm off to get a drink...

[note: omg, no note? a miracle, i say! also, poor YOU-kun, keeping himself up nights thinking about how best to please us. can hug him now?]

[7] Friday Road Show (^_^) - 2006/06/02 (Friday)

"An eraser for the inside of my head."
Many of you are familiar with this already.*

This movie,
well, usually, I don't watch romance movies,
but once,

"It made me cry!"

I won't say anything, or I'd spoil it, but
the two protagonists are really charming,
and in the first half of the movie,

the girl's heart (^_^) becomes fully open, and you think

"I want to be in love like that~"

You should go experience the intense feelings of happiness
and relate to those two people on the silver screen.
And then afterwards (T_T)

Seriously, watch it the day before a holiday.
The next day, your eyes'll be swollen.

"The thing that's truly imporant for humans."
That's what the movie will make you think about...

It's been a couple of months,
but even now, I unexpectedly remember it and get choked up,
it's that kind of movie.

[ * this is the same phrase i couldn't get the other day. but i've got it know. yay! also, thoughts of YOU crying at a movie makes me laugh. ...and want to give him a hug. (-_-)]

[6] Unexpectedly - 2006/06/01 (Thu)

It's a rush on NO SMOKING posts. (^_^)
By the way, yesterday was

"World No Smoking Day"

and I really had no idea. (^^;)

It shouldn't be too much of a surprise, but
I'm taking the opportunity to talk about tobacco again...

During my Smoker Era, I was strongly opposed
to this international no smoking boom, so much so,
that when someone would say to me "Stop smoking! Stop smoking!"

I would think things like,

"Go talk to someone who doesn't smoke, huh?"

"Selling tobacco's been legal since the beginning, you know."

Surely, any smoker VS a no smoking organisation has these feelings.

However,

right after I stopped smoking and got a clean body,
I coerced someone else with, "Stop smoking~"

Really, when you smoke, you don't realize the harm tobacco does to you.

If you think about that, people in no smoking organization are not necessarily people who dislike smoking.
Rather, many of them are former smokers themselves...

And of course, you're out there puffing away in front of your computer right now! (^_^)

"Before the next time we meet, quit, okay?"

[note: well, i have no notes at all this time. i feel kind of odd. enjoy YOU's cheerfulness!]

[5] Therapy - 2006/05/31 (Wed)

I quit. With "a man's promise"...
as many of you already know.

Even three months later,

they ask,

"Did you really quit~?"

and

"No hidden smokes~?"

They doubt... Of course,
during my smoking era, I was a heavy smoker. (^^;)

Now and then on the BBS, someone would leave a "No Smoking" message,
but
everyone can relax,

because I can declare,

"I am completely smoke free~♪"

By the way, the book in the picture is "No Smoking Therapy"
I read this book and I stopped smoking.

Next time, I'll talk about the troubles of No Smoking.

[serapii is the word in the title. i have no earthly idea what a serapii is. it seems to be some kind of plan. later on he references the YOU dietto serapii. that would be the YOU diet plan, hence the above translation. as noted by the kind and wonderful kellyn below, your humble translator was a bit of a dunce back in the day. (^^;) MAN do i need to go through these old posts... ]

[4] At the Office... - 2006/05/30 (Tue)

Everyone was watching their PC screens, in the middle
of a serious business meeting,

and I thought, "Now's my chance~!"

and I peeked in on the staff
and
took a rare photo.

"Ah! Stop it!!"

"Please pardon my photo!!!"

"What are you using anyway??? I don't believe it...!!"

Heheheh... Yell all you want, it's already too late!

"I'm putting it on my home page~!" With that one phrase, three people got sinking expressions.

What the meeting was about, I can't say just now, or I'd spoil it,
but
you'll enjoy our various schemes. (^_^)

When I came back, the staff had some words for me.
"That's right, you update your diary every day, don't you? ...So get to it."

Keh... Sinking...

[note: heheh. i think this is my favorite post so far. i just love the idea of YOU sneaking around in a modern business environment w/ his little camera phone taking snapshots of people and then laughing maniacally.]

[3] Once Again - 2006/05/29 (Mon)

No, I haven't been drinking...
Urgent things just kept popping up...

Huh??? No jokes? (^^;)

If you've visited all three days we've been open, this is the kind of post
that makes you think back and say,
sad, sad~, the earlier ones were longer~ (T_T)

Well, ...setting that aside,
yesterday, my friends and I hung out for a long time and had a great night.

MENTSU*, with performers, managers, models, designers, and musicians,
it was like some kind of close contact sporting event. It was that packed?Just with people. (^_^)
The place was hard to understand from the ambience, documented with a flutter of photographs,
and there was an intense odor of public bars on the sqalid outskirts.
Even if you look kindly upon us, the group of us,

well ... we stick out like a sore thumb, don't we?

was the feeling we got, but we got into the spirit of things
on the cheap by trying out some delicious cuisine.

One word...

"Hurrah for B-class gourmet!"

[* the japanese here says mentsu, which as far as i can tell is a word meaning "honor" but he writes it in katakana, so i'm not sure if he just wants the emphasis or if there's some other use of this word that i'm just not currently aware of. he's being kind of casual today, and it's destroying every chance i ever had of getting this thing right. (-_-) also, i'm not so sure on that whole section about understanding the place. complicated grammar getting the best of me there, i think.]

[2] The Usual - 2006/05/28 (Sun)

Pardon my food...

I'm going to talk about going to eat motsunabe. With that guy everybody knows about...

He and I like spicy food very much, and generally when we go to eat something somewhere,
our usual is to get everything covered in red peppers, but this time, when he orders,

he says, "Can I have a large order of falcon claws?"

and this bowl full of falcon claws appears,

and
he says, "Everyone's good with spicy, right?"

The pan is stained deep red, but in contrast, the faces of the people sitting with us intantly become pale.
... well, I was composed, but... (^^;)

Then he says "Everyone ate light~" so maybe they had a snack in between meals, but
probably, the thought that no one was eating except the two of us was just our imagination.

Yeah~ it was really good tasting motsunabe. (^_^)

[falcon claws. yeah, i've heard they're in taiwan at the moment, i don't know if people actually eat falcon claws in japan. i suppose i could take google for a ride and find out. also sorry for the choppy sort of feel to this entry, i had a bit of a time figuring out what he was trying to say.]

[1] To Begin - 2006/05/27 (Sat)

If I remember, it's been about a year since I mentioned starting up a homepage...
At last it's OPEN.

First of all, I'd like to thank the staff for creating this place,
and for putting up with me.

Also, the many words of congratulations from everyone have really touched my heart.

"Thank you."

It's not a word I use a lot, but right now I am filled with this word.

After this, this homepage will be the place where I give back to everyone.
I hope that a place like that will please everyone.

Pardon my rudenss, but please come back often.
I'll keep at it and update this diary... (^_^)

[notes: for a while, the dates'll be off, coz i'm working off a back-log, but eventually i should be able to put the posts up w/in 24 hours of YOU actually writing them. also, the pics are of course copied from YOU's site, so probably i'm infringing on poor YOU-kun's copyright, but hopefully he won't mind. (^_^) as he would say.]

06 June 2006

hajime!

yay! it's my first post. i've started two or three blogs in the past year, and each time, i have swiftly become BORED TO TEARS with my own life. plus i've got my dA account so another journal seems like a bit of a silly idea. this time, however, i am confident of my success! i have (duh duh duuuh!) a GOAL! i know. omg. YOU of the great and wonderful GacktJOB recently opened his own website whereupon he has a little diary! it's super cute! he's pretty funny. he writes little poems and what he keeps calling NETA, which i learned is a word for jokes or punchlines. as translation practice, i've been working through all of his entries, and i decided, why keep them to myself? i know there are plenty of other YOU fangirls out there. so here is where i will be posting my [mostly accurate] translations of YOU-kun's diary. he says he'll try and update every day, and so so will i! i'll stick my translation caveat somewhere up at the top, too, but just so that everybody knows, i'm not a japanese expert, my skills are probably low-to-mid-intermediate. i'll be leaving notes if i have some uncertainty about a passage, and of course ANY help is MASSIVELY appreciated.
